RL 2: Measurement of nutritional biomarkers to estimate individualised CVD risk profiles


The overall goal of this Research Line is to measure biomarkers of nutrition and analyse their impact on individualised CVD prediction.


Research Line specific objective:


to further optimise existing high-throughput assays of nutritional and other biomarkers;


to assess the impact of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and a panel of 6 carotenoids (α-carotene, β-carotene, lycopene, β-cryptoxanthin, lutein, zeaxanthin) on CVD risk prediction;


to assess the impact of 25-hydroxy vitamin D2 and D3 on CVD risk prediction; and


to assess the impact of 37 fatty acids on CVD risk prediction.
